Kokeshi: From Folk Art to Art Toy

I'd really, really like to be able to see this exhibit in person; Kokeshi: From Folk Art to Art Toy put on by the Japanese American National Museum in LA.

Of course there's the historical look at the doll, the why's, wherefore's and hows illustrated by the show but the exhibit will also feature new, modern artistic versions of the doll --- hand painted and altered dolls by some of my very favorite artists; Betsy Walton, Camilla Engman --- etc.

I can't go to LA just to see it so I have to settle for photos!

The exhibt takes place July 11 through October 4th for anyone living in enough proximity to go or who happens to be passing through on a visit within that time frame...
